This pie bird or pie funnel from Mason Cash is designed to allow steam to escape from the inside of a pie while it is cooking, and prevent the contents from boiling over. It also helps keep the pastry top from sagging, and looks great in the centre of your pie.
Established in the 1800s, and renowned largely for their cane mixing bowls, and its partner, the traditional white pudding basin, Mason Cash have been synonymous with domestic kitchen and bakeware for over two centuries.
