It’s no secret that we love lanterns here at Silver Mushroom. We’re actually a little ashamed about the number of lanterns we have at home, it may be considered obsessive.. (let’s just say it’s in double figures). There’s a good reason for this though, lanterns can bring a room to life. It’s incredible how you can take the most beautiful home in the world, however without those all important finishing touches, it can seem unfinished. Lanterns are one of the simplest, most cost-effective ‘finishing touches’ there is; no DIY, no electrician, just simply choose the right style, place them in the perfect spot and there you have it, the cosiest styled room imaginable!
You may have seen our new Silver Mushroom Label launch earlier this week, if you didn’t then take a look here. Featured in this beautiful new collection are some new lanterns- how exciting! So, we thought what better way to show you these new beauties than to showcase our 5 favourite lanterns of all time. Fun right?
Without further ado, in no particular order, these are our favourite lanterns this summer!
1. Broste Copenhagen Lantern ‘Aleta’ Bamboo/Wood
Stunning, stunning, stunning. One of the first ever lanterns we stocked is still in our top 10, that shows just how special it really is. Our Aleta Lantern, styled here by the fabulous Charlotte from @horrellshome, is from the Scandinavian brand Broste Copenhagen. Made from sustainable Bamboo, this striking lantern is a great way to add a quirky touch to any indoor or outdoor space. We adore our Aleta lantern, in all of her oversized glory.
2. Silver Mushroom Label Black Slant Top Lanterns
It really would have been rude not to, but we genuinely do adore our new lanterns from our Silver Mushroom Label collection. These babies throw out the most gorgeous shadows when lit thanks to those intricate criss-cross details. One of our must-have features when selecting lanterns is that they don’t just look good when lit, but also when not in use. Unless you plan on packing them away when they’re not lit, and let’s be serious- nobody wants to do that, then your lanterns need to look good unlit too. These gorgeous wooden Slanting Top lanterns make the perfect feature, adding that lovely rich black colour to any palette.
3. Nkuku Idha Hurricane Lantern – Straight
We love natural materials wherever possible when it comes to decor, there’s something so pure, minimalistic and relaxing about raw wood. The gorgeous Idha Hurricane Lantern ticks all of our boxes. With an organic glass hurricane surround and raw mango wood base this lantern is perfect for indoor or outdoor use. A beautiful way to add a glow to that drab corner!
4.Nkuku Kaso Lantern Small
A true rustic piece, the Kaso lantern has been flying off our shelves ever since we began to stock it last year. This lantern is actually made by incredibly skilled artisans in India, giving it a wonderful back story. We love that this lantern closes, keeping the flame a-glow even in the breeze. It’s ideal for any style of home, modern or otherwise. Why not stagger the large and small sizes of the Kaso for a visually interesting and beautiful feature?
5. Silver Mushroom Label Rattan Candle Holder With Rope
Another newbie from our label is this gorgeous rattan lantern. This shape reminds us of the Broste Flax Lantern, however this is a more affordable alternative. Rattan has been super popular this summer, with rattan furniture everywhere you look. We hadn’t seen many, if any, rattan lanterns so this piece is extra special to us. Ideal for using outdoors to create that all important ambiance at your next BBQ or for lighting up a lacking area in the house.
