Nkuku is a brand that originated from a life-changing adventure, as Ali & Alex Cooke founded it after a year-long trip around the world. Witnessing the beautiful work of skilled craftspeople inspired them to relocate from London to rural Devon, where they began collaborating with artisans from around the globe to showcase their products to a wider audience.
The name Nkuku was derived from a Zambian village where the Cooke’s wrote their business plan on a paperback book cover. Their first product, the stylish leather journals they still sell today, was inspired by this location. Although the brand has evolved since its inception in 2003, they still have a hands-on approach, personally meeting and working with its artisan makers to ensure that every product has a unique story to tell.
We were captivated by Nkuku’s distinctive homeware offerings at a trade show in 2019. Their products are of high quality and incredibly unique, ranging from handwoven throws to industrial dining tables, all of which exude culture. Nkuku makes it easy to incorporate visual interest and adventurous culture into your home. We are proud to stock the Nkuku brand because all of their products are ethically made, eco-friendly and handcrafted. Nkuku’s design philosophy complements our own ethos, as they use materials, shapes, textures and patterns that remain relevant across seasons and stand the test of time. Ultimately, Nkuku aims to provide items that you will cherish for years to come, rejecting the “fast-fashion” approach to homeware.
