Mason Cash – The Origins
Mason Cash has been the choice of home bakers and cooks for centuries, but how did it all begin? The origins of this classic brand can be traced all the way back to a small town business called Pool Potteries operating in Church Gresley, Derbyshire in 1800. Being located close to raw materials and fuel sources, Church Gresley was an idyllic location for the business. Pool Potteries produced kitchen items made from ‘white and cane’ glazed earthenware, often called ‘yellow ware’ due to the colour of local clay. The business was run by a series of Master Potters, of whom the most colourful was a man called Mason, known widely for his bossiness in the business. This is where the name ‘Mason’ came from.
As time went on a man called Tom Cash acquired Pool Potteries in 1901, he changed the company name to ‘Mason Cash & Co’.
Mason Cash had been producing mixing bowls throughout the 1800’s, but it was in 1901 that they designed and manufactured the very first iconic Mason Cash mixing bowl. The design of the bowl has certainly endured the test of time and has become something of a design classic. The design of the iconic mixing bowl has barely altered since then, which is why the brand is still renowned for its innovative, classic kitchenware today.
Mason Cash Today
The brand has successfully managed to move with the times and consequently they always manage to introduce new ranges inspired by current trends and up to modern styles. Many people love Mason Cash for its classic pieces such as the Cane Mixing bowl and the plain white Pudding Basin, however it’s evident that newer lines still maintain the same quality and design standards expected by new and existing customers.
You can now purchase a wide range of baking accessories and ovenware, one of the most popular is a collection called In The Forest, featuring a neutral colour scheme and subtle woodland animals embossed into each piece. This collection would look gorgeous in a farmhouse or a cottage kitchen, but also could be styled beautifully as a feature in modern home.
The Innovative Kitchen collection is another new range from Mason Cash. Featuring a range of earthenware and beechwood baking accessories each delivering smart solutions for day to day kitchen needs. Each item within the range has a traditional function with a modern twist that brings either dual function or improved performance. The Mason Cash Innovative Kitchen Utensils range has been designed for multi-functionality and comfort. Each one of the beech wood tools is perfect for the multiple tasks in hand. Because we know that space in your kitchen is precious and if an item is going to have pride of place on your shelves then it must be worth it!
Despite modern, stylish new collections the original range of classic Cane Mixing Bowls remains a best seller for the brand. Whatever your preference, this timeless brand upholds its quality, style and finesse decade after decade.
