Nkuku Indali Mango Wood Round Dining Table – Large
Our large Indali dining table is a stylish statement piece. The simple shape enhances the beautiful natural wood, which is rich in organic detail and texture. It’s well-designed and robust, with a timeless silhouette and understated aesthetic which suits almost any interior. Our use of mango wood makes this table a sustainable choice – the trees are only cut down once they have stopped bearing fruit. The table’s generous proportions mean 4-6 people can comfortably sit around it.
To care for your mango wood wash in warm soapy water, rinse and dry immediately. Because it is a tropical plant, mango wood is best suited to humid environments; with daily use in a home with central heating, it can be at risk of drying out if not cared for, which may cause cracking or warping. To take the best care of your mango wood, you can treat it with natural oils that you have on hand at home such as Olive Oil or Walnut Oil, using a soft cloth for application. These oils will nourish, but not permanently soak into the wood, so if you wash them off you must reapply them. Please note adding oil may darken the tone of the wood. We recommend using coasters for drinks, the finish may mark when put in contact with hot drinks or liquid. Blot any spillage immediately with a dry cloth, do not use chemical cleaners.
Why We Love Nkuku
Founded on the back of a life-changing adventure, Nkuku was created by Ali & Alex Cooke after a year-long round the world trip. From the outset they were humbled by the talented craftspeople and their beautiful work, so inspired in fact that upon their return they decided to move from the city of London to rural Devon. They began working with artisans from around the world, supporting and celebrating their skills by bringing their products to a wider audience.
The name Nkuku comes from a village in Zambia, the place where the Cooke’s wrote their business plan on the cover of a paperback book. That was the inspiration for their first product, the stylish leather journals they still sell today. Although Nkuku has evolved since it was founded in 2003, they still have the same hands-on approach, meeting and working with their artisan makers personally, this enables them to guarantee that every product has a story to tell.
We fell in love with the Nkuku brand when at a trade show back in 2019, their unique homewares caught our eye instantly, never had we seen such unique, quality products. You really can see the diversity in their products, whether it’s a handwoven throw or an industrial dinning table, their products ooze culture. Nkuku makes it simple to add visual interest and adventurous culture to your home. One of the main reasons we are proud to stock the Nkuku brand is the fact that all of their products are ethically made, eco-friendly and hand-made. Nkuku’s approach to design fit’s seamlessly with our own ethos, they use materials that will stand the test of time, shapes, textures and patterns that will stay relevant across seasons. Ultimately, Nkuku wish to offer items you will cherish for years to come, eliminating the ‘fast-fashion’ approach to homewares.
