It is not widely known but SMEG is actually a family run business. Founded in 1948 by the Bertazzoni family in Northern Italy. The Bertazzoni family’s entrepreneurial history began way back in the 19th century. Starting out as blacksmiths, the Bertazzoni’s soon branched out into metal enamelling. The family’s skills, drive and knowledge enabled them to move with the times and meet knew technological demands in the appliance industry.
