The Organic Company Lunch Bag – Dark Blue
The Organic Company offer a variety of versatile textile items for the home, all made from organic cotton. Today their extensive collection includes textiles for the bathroom, kitchen and children, as well as blankets and bags.
Organic cotton has a great number of benefits that make it preferable to non-organic cotton. Organic cotton is a natural, renewable and biodegradable fibre. It benefits cotton producers and the environment in developing countries by avoiding the harmful effects of toxic pesticides, and the reduced cost of production improves social conditions. By contrast, non-organic cotton is a huge source of pollution, using almost 25% of the world’s insecticides and 10% of pesticides. Conditions are often poor for cotton growers and a lot of chemicals are used in production to turn raw materials into textiles that we put next to our skin every day.
The Organic Company
The Organic Company is a Danish design company which creates meaningful and tasteful interior textiles from 100% GOTS certified organic cotton
Honesty, transparency and an ambitious wish to make a difference is a rock solid foundation for the company, founded by entrepreneur Joy Vasiljev in 2007. Since then, the company has developed a collection of organic textiles for the home, which includes textiles for the bath, kitchen, children, bags, meditation and blankets. The products are designed by The Organic Company and, from time to time, co-designed with selected Danish designers.
All products are made of organic cotton and certified with the international organic standard GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard).
This standard focuses on 2 major areas; environment and social responsibility, and guarantees that all fabrics are free from toxins and heavy metals, and international workers rights are respected.
Ranging from kitchen textiles to blankets and bath robes, The Organic Company’s products are characterised by unique sizes, choice of materials and flexible functionality. All designs are created between The Organic Company themselves and various Danish designers.
The GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) standard guarantees the consumer not only that all fabrics are organic but also that a series of international workers rights are met and that no toxic or polluting chemicals are used in the production. The center of the GOTS certification is the comprehensive controls made by an independent certifier, who monitors and tests every part of the production chain – from the organic cotton farmer to the spinning mill and dye works to the importer.
Since 2010, all items have been certified with the international organic label GOTS and The Organic Company continues to be focused on and around design, quality and respect for people and nature.
