We are not entirely sure when it happened, but we seemed to blink and wakeup in February. January has been and gone and now we’re already well into Feb. Love it or hate it, the Hallmark holidays we celebrate in February do define this month, it is the month of roses and love and soppy social media posts. However, if you have been following us for a while you will know that we aren’t much for the mushy stuff surrounding Valentines, we do however adore a good pancake with lemon and sugar every Shrove Tuesday. In this blog we will give you a run down of what’s to come for the month ahead, it may be short and sweet but there is a lot to pack in to the 28 days of February.
Once you’re done buying your significant other flowers and chocolates we have a more important task for you, we want you to focus on you. Self-love should be the most unconditional, enjoyable form of love, yet it is something so many of us find tirelessly difficult. We aren’t proclaiming to be experts however we do know a few tips and tricks that can make your heart go ‘ahhh’ as you melt down into your sofa after a long day. One of the main ways we personally practise self-love, or ‘self-care’ if that is less cringeworthy to you, is to curate a space that we just can’t wait to spend time in. Elevating your home, expressing your personal style and putting together an environment that you can feel totally at peace in can work wonders for the soul. This is a great way to prioritise your well-being and can have a wonderful effect on your mental health, we won’t go into the nitty gritty of it but there have been numerous studies done on the effects of a positive environment on mental health. You don’t just want the vase, you need the vase after all! Whether it’s experimenting with your favourite colour or indulging in some new pieces for your home, taking the time to create a space you love is an act of self care. We pride our selves on carefully curated collections that will give you that special ‘treat’ feeling, so why not have a browse?
We all know that February is short and sweet but the age old saying really does ring true, cake is the way to their heart. There is something so thoughtful about whipping up their favourite treat, the time and effort you put in more often is far better received than splashing the cash on something materialistic. Aside from making them happy, we have talked before about how great and therapeutic baking can be, from the Five Reasons Baking Is Good For Your Mental Health to making your recipient feel special, baking is fantastic. From cookies and cakes to bread and pastries, there’s no shortage of recipes to try this month. So, get creative, put on your apron, and get baking! Don’t forget to do it in style with our bakeware collection.
Finally, February is a time to spend with loved ones, and what better way to do that than over pancakes on Shrove Tuesday? This year, gather your family and friends, whip up a batch of pancakes, and enjoy a relaxed and indulgent morning or afternoon. Whether you’re a sugar and lemon or a cheese and bacon fanatic, the most important thing is that you indulge together. So, gather your loved ones, mix up some batter, and enjoy a cosy and delicious Shrove Tuesday.
