The Viners Brand
Viners is a distinguished brand with over a century of experience in cutlery manufacturing. Its rich history dates back to the early 1900s in Sheffield, where the Viener family of silversmiths established the company. Over time, Viners grew to become the largest cutlery manufacturer in England after World War II. With Rubens Viener at the helm, the company expanded rapidly, producing quality stainless steel cutlery and other kitchen products. Today, Viners continues to combine best-in-class materials and cutting-edge technologies to create elegant, robust, and rust-resistant cutlery with a durable finish. Their extensive range of designs and shapes caters to all tastes, and each product is finished to the highest standard and backed by their guarantee of excellence.
Acquisition by The Rayware Group
As with most home grown brands, the path to success did not run smoothly for Viners. The collapse of the steel industry and the flooding of imports to the UK from East Asia around the mid 20th century took its toll on the much loved cutlery brand. It eventually fell into decline in 1985.
Luckily, the potential for the brand was still recognised and it was bought out first by Oneida. Oneida were one of the world’s largest designers and sellers of stainless steel and silver plated cutlery and tableware. Viners was then bought out again by the Rayware Group in 2014.
The Rayware Group is a family owned business, which started in 1975. They are now one of the leading housewares suppliers and currently own some of the UK’s best loved brands. Rayware have done a fantastic job over the years, of reviving old British brands and bringing them into the 21st Century. They have introduced more contemporary ranges, whilst still maintaining the quintessential English charm. They have also kept a firm grip throughout on the traditional values and ethos of the brands. Their brands currently include Mason Cash, Kilner, Ravenhead, Arthur Wood, Price and Kensington, Typhoon, and most recently Viners.
