Silver Mushroom- All Blogs, Spring, Stories

The March Edit

Welcome to March, a month that promises the first signs of spring and brings with it some exciting new trends. As the seasons begin to change, although the weather may still be bitterly cold we begin to feel a freshness in the air and nature begins to bloom. March is the month of rejuvenation and freshness, it’s a wonderful time to embrace change and we can’t wait to share with you our ideas on how to do just that.

The first of the two noteworthy events in March is International Women’s Day, a day widely celebrated by the homewares industry. As a female founded business we take great pride in celebrating not only the incredible women in our team at Silver Mushroom but also the wider community and our personal lives. We are lucky enough to know so many inspiring women, and we believe empowering them, supporting them and encouraging them to achieve their goals is crucial in the movement of equality and we couldn’t be prouder to get involved and spread the love, not just on International Women’s Day but everyday.

The second noteworthy event is of course, Mothering Sunday. A wonderful day for those of us fortunate enough to celebrate it, a time to celebrate the strong women who raised and nurtured us. We always tread carefully around the topic of Mother’s Day as we know for some it is a sad occasion that brings up painful memories, our hearts go out to those who find themselves in this situation. For those who do wish to celebrate we have curated a small but thoughtful edit of lovely ‘little somethings’ that we’re pretty sure any Mum would adore. Mother’s Day isn’t about the gifts, more the time spent together, but it’s a lovely gesture to not turn up empty handed. You can shop our Mother’s Day Gifting collection here.

The changing of the seasons is reflected in the emerging trends of March. Fresh flowers on the kitchen side, pops of yellow and green weaving their way into colour palettes and slubby linens taking the place of heavier velvets are all telling signs that a new season is upon us. March has a laid back aura, complemented by fresh scents and a continuously cosy, homely feel. As we know all to well in the UK, early spring does not mean warmer weather, March is still a cold month, despite it teasing otherwise.
